Settled at Pyrton and Lockridge in Swan district. Bought grants and established horse breeding stations: 1839 at "Culham" Toodyay (with S.P. Phillips) and "Wilberforce" & "Woodside" at York 1837 as well as "Richmond" at Williams. Left for Europe 26.10.1843 per Trusty and returned to W.A. 15.1.1850 per Arcadia. Took up large leases in Irwin and Greenough districts in partnership with Phillips and Burges. Director of first W.A. Bank 1841 and held many town allotments Fremantle and Perth. Committeeman W.A. Turf Club. Employed 19 Ticket of leave men at Greenough 1864-1867 and 26 Ticket of leave men 1856-1873 at Swan. MLC 1857- 1865. Member of Guildford Board of Education 1861-7, led the life of a gentleman. Educated at Cambridge University.
