Biographical informationGeorge J. Webb arrived on 20 April 1839 per Mindoo. He was Clerk of the Commissary Department and lived at Hay Street 1840-4. He conducted Assembly Balls in 1841. In 1842 he was Honorary Secretary of the Swan River Reading Club which met at Alfred Hawes Stone's residence. In January 1848 he went to Albany where he tutored the sons of the gentry including James McDermott from Augusta. In 1850 he left for NSW per Oceanic.
