Biographical informationGeorge Cheyne, Trader, agriculturist, whaler, sandalwooder, arrived on 2 June 1831 per Sterling chartered jointly with Marshall McDermott. He married Grace Melville b. 1798. They adopted Emily Trimmer. He brought servants and a prefabricated house from Sweden. He was granted 16,600 acres and settled in Albany in 1831 and in Cape Riche in 1836.
He was a magistrate and in 1858 he opened the first flour mill in Albany. He brought out the Moir and Muir families, but returned to Scotland c .1860. Date of birth1790Date of death1869
