He worked as a pearler at Cossack and Shark Bay. Joint owner with George Tagg of the cutter 'Yule'. His wife is thought to be the first woman to live on Monte Bello Island and to go by sea to Beagle Bay. Noted for the tortoise shell ornaments they made there. Was wounded in a fight between Manilla men & pearlers at Useless Loop in January 1888.
