DescriptionQuan Sing & Co. was operated by brothers Quan Sing Yee Chun and Yee Lock Quan Sing.
It has been assumed that both brothers were involved in the operation of the store.
Around 1919, they moved to Carnarvon and commenced 'Yee Lock Quan Sing & Co.' - refer to separate Organisation entry.

State Library of WA holds some of their records:
"Letter book (press copies, very frail) of this firm of general merchants at Derby, 28.7.1920 - 28.3.1924, with a few documents of 1913-1920." [Refer to 'Related Link' below.]

A photograph taken in 1897 (Battye Library, 69062P) shows a modest, single-storey galvanised iron shop with a sign 'Quan Sing & Co.' on the roof.

In 1905, Quan Sing & Co successfully sued the Adelaide Steamship Company for £32, the cost of a case of tobacco that failed to be delivered from Fremantle to Derby. An effort to appeal the judgement was unsuccessful. (Daily News, 21 July 1908, p. 4).

Company letterhead and later photos indicate Quan Sing & Co. moved to much larger premises - a two storey, galvanised iron structure.

In 1946, when Quan Sing Yee Chun's children applied for the right to sell his assets (having died intestate), including two parcels of land in Derby. Based on the description, it is believed that the shop land would be indicated on Certificate of Title: Vol. 18, Folio 178 (Lot 276). The second block of land would be indicated on Certificate of Title: Vol. 426, Folio 174 (Lot 363).
