Biographical information Henry Knighton Toll, pastoralist was born 1827 in England and married Anne Reynolds, (1835-1900). He arrived in Western Australia c.1863 with family. Children: 1) Annie Middleton, b. 1859 (England) d. 1919, 2) Henry Grills b. 1860 (England) d. 1920 (Albany), 3) Henry Knighton bp. 1866 (Albany), d. 1935, 4) Florence Kate bp. 1869 (Albany), d. 1950, 5) Blanche Currie bp. 1870 (Albany), d. 1934, 6) Edward Falconer b. 1871 (Albany) d. 1873.
He worked as an officer of P & O Co. serving on a steamer in 1846s and as Chief Officer 1853 before being stationed at Albany 1863. He resided in Stirling Terrace, Albany. He was the American Consul from 1868-1873 and a member of the Albany School Board. He bought land at Stirling Ranges in 1866 which he called "Toll's Knob". He was a member of the Road Board in 1874. He left for SA 1876 although some of the family remained WA. His land and flocks were leased out. He visited South Australia several times and employed a ticket of leave shepherd in 1872. He nad his wife retired to England.
He employed Ah Hoe (1) and Ah Leem on Warrungup Station, Albany and was taken to court by Ah Hoe for non-payment of wages.Date of birth1877Date of death1907
