By 1860 was auctioneer & agent at York conducting Bland Town Stores competing against father & brother. By 1861-70 was
miller & hotel proprietor at Toodyay. Then at York competing against brother John Henry: MLC York 1875-1880 & Chairman of York Municipal Council. Employed 100 T/L men on occasions 1864-1883 mostly labourers, cooks & engine drivers at Toodyay & York. Congreg.
