DescriptionCheong Hing & Co. was a shop selling groceries and Chinese herbal medicines run by Mong Chin See Howe. His son Si Tao Tung also ran the business in the early 1920s before he returned to China after a failed application to remain in Western Australia.
Mong Ching See Howe was the only partner by 1914 but there were four other partners before they were bought out by Mong Ching. The previous partners are mentioned in Mong Ching's divorce proceedings as Bee Wood (Lee Wood?), Quan Wee Gay, Bing Mon and Fang Long.
The business ran for at least twenty years and had a market garden in Balcatta for several years.
It operated from 353 Murray Street, Perth, possibly moved to 376 Murray Street before moving to 130 James Street around 1919. The building in James Street was probably the one next to Chung Wah Association and had some financial connection to the Chung Wah Association.Address,130,James St,Northbridge,,,Location[1]
