Biographical informationJohn Frederick Hancock (1841-1892) was the son of George and Sophia Hancock. In 1867 he married Mary Strange. He owned Woodbrook and Hanover stations, Seabrook Station at Beverley, and at the time of his death owned a station on the Ashburton (Ashburton Downs). He employed Ang Ming, Ah Haw, Lim Boon, Ah Ha Sim and Lim Ah Hah. His wife, Mary, employed Ah Tone.
An unidentified Chinese employee of Hancock's died from exhaustion and lack of food and water attempting to walk from Hancock's Sherlock River Station to Roebourne in 1880.
