Biographical informationCaptain Edward Henry Fothergill (c. 1834-1896) was a seaman from Sussex. He married Mary Anne Forster on 9 November 1867 in St. James's Cathedral, Melbourne, Victoria and they had three children. In 1881, he leased the Crown & Thistle Hotel in High Street, Fremantle, and named it the Cleopatra Hotel after his ship. He bought the hotel in the 1890s. He employed Dan A Dek, Go A Min, Han A Jim, Le A Jan, Loi Iu Ngi and Tan A Seng (1)Date of death9 February 1896
