Biographical informationSamuel Richard Lewes Elliott (1860-1933) of Mardie Station in Champion Bay was the son of Thomas Elliott, a soldier and landed proprietor, and (Emeline) Maria Lloyd. On 22 February 1887, he married Emma Durlacher, the daughter of Alfred Durlacher and Christina Slade, in Fremantle. In 1880 he joined the Murray Squatting Company. He was one of five partners settling Yeeda station, the first sheep station in the Kimberleys. In 1881 he was a partner in Mardie station with Alexander R. Richardson. Later he owned Oakabella (1897–1908), Tallering Station near Pindar and Wyngangoo Station on Murchison and Yandil near Wiluna. In 1906 he purchased Annean from EF and LH Darlot. He died in 1933.
