Biographical informationGeorge Brown Clarke (1810-1884) was the son of George Browne He arrived per American ship from Boston 1843. He travelled to South Australia in 1845 and returned 1846.
In 1852 he married Sarah Ann Cooper (1833-1893), the daughter of William and Sarah (nee Carey).
They had at least fifteen children: George James Dollard (1852-1935), Emily Sarah b. 1854, William Cooper (1856-1929), Elvira Sophia b. 1858, Isabella Eliss b. 1859, Ann Elizabeth b. 1861, Mary Jane (1863-1936), Charles Henry (1865-1933), Charlotte Brown b. 1867, Matilda Jane b. 1870, Matilda Augusta b. 1871, Elua Ann; Mary Jane; Charles Henry and Charlotte Brown c. 1869.
A sailor who jumped ship, said to have dived for the Lefroy's purse of gold dropped over board while landing. Was employed as shepherd for Lefroy at Victoria Plains in the 1840s and became a pastoralist. He bought 10 acres 'Goonderabby' east of New Norcia and held large areas of leasehold at "Indarrie" and "Edibejibedgl" around eight or more freehold blocks by the 1880s. Employed 16 T/L men 1859-1876 including a well sinker 1876.
