Biographical informationEdward William Butcher, (1829-1895). He was the only son of John Hunt Butcher and his wife Sarah. He married Maria Susan Schaw, th daughter of Major Charles Schaw of Tasmania. Children: Edward William Norton, (1851-1913), Maria (1856-1921), William James Burchell b. 1858, Charles John Hunt (1860-1931), Frances Emma b. 1862.
He was a pastoralist in Victoria and took up leases North of Geraldton, including "Tallering'. He employed three Ticket of Leave men in Murchison
1877, a cook and two shepherds. He was a Master pearler Shark Bay 1884-1892. He also had mining interests in Marble Bar. He was educated at Kings College, London.
He employed Ah Ken (1) in 1884.
