Biographical informationYee Hing was born in April 1866 in Canton, China. He migrated to Australia in 1885 and moved to Western Australia in 1893. He was just under five feet six inches in height.
He was recorded as a market gardener at Bayswater in 1910 and 1913 and in Britannia Road, Leederville, in 1916 (B).
He travelled overseas twice: June 1910 to November 1911; and January 1915 to August 1916 (D). He applied for a CEDT in 1921 but did not use it.

"In the Wanneroo history collection, an interview with Nardo Crisafulli includes the story of local children (including himself) taking rides on a tramway trolley down to Lake Joondalup on the property of Chinese market gardener Yee Hing in the 1920s. They would catch turtles for the owner in payment for their rides. [Information provided to author by Philippa Rogers]
When Yee Hing died on 12 November 1929, he was leasing part of Swan Location 92 at Careinup Swamp (now part of Lake Karrinyup Country Club grounds) and had £300 value in vegetable crops among his assets. He was aged 62 and had been in Western Australia for 40 years. His brother, Yee Kwong, had a market garden in Bayswater.
