Biographical informationWong Ghock (aka Won Ghock & Woon Ghock) was born on the 30th July 1873 in Canton, China. He migrated to Victoria in 1900 and moved to Western Australia in 1902. He was just under five feet five inches in height. He had a wife in China.
He worked as a cabinet maker at the See Wah & Co Furniture Factory, Railway Parade, West Perth, up until 1914. In 1916, on returning from a visit to China, he landed and stayed in Melbourne. He moved back to Western Australia in 1917 and worked in William Singe's furniture factory in Roe Street, Perth. In 1921 he worked in the J. W. Wing factory in Roe Street, Perth (B). By 1922 he had returned to Melbourne and worked for Sam Yick as a cabinet maker at 152 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, Victoria. He was still living and working as a cabinet maker in Melbourne in 1939 and 1948.
He travelled overseas three times: October 1906 to August 1907 and March 1914 to September 1916; January 1923 and June 1924.
