Biographical informationWong Coon Yew (aka Wong Coon Yen) was born in about 1875 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1897. He was five feet six and half inches in height.
He worked as a shop assistant employed by Sydney Fong & Co., Geraldton, from at least 1902 until 1921 when he moved to Fremantle and worked in the Hong Wah [Hong Lee?] Laundry in Pakenham Street (B).
He travelled overseas four times: March 1902 to February 1903; December 1905 to September 1907; March 1911 to January 1913; and September 1916 to September 1919 (D).
