Biographical informationWailye Samuel Lew (aka Wai Lew) was born in December 1868 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in June 1891.
He married Mary Veronica Letchford in 1910 in Perth (BDM 1910/100369). she became "Chinese by marriage". They had at least four children:

2) Carmel Francis Wailye (b. 1913, Northam, BDM 1913/4900073; d. 1913, West Perth, BDM 1913/100520);
3) Peace Vernon Wailye (b. 1918, Perth, BDM 1918/102528);
4) Malcolm James Wailye (b. 1920, Lion Mill, BDM 1920/6100347; d. 1947, Perth, BDM 1947/100283).
He worked as a market gardener at Lion Mill in 1916 (B) and had a house at Albert Street, North Perth.
