Biographical informationSuey E (aka Suee E) was born in February 1870 in Shanghai or Amoy [Xiamen], China. He migrated to Western Australia in December 1889. He was five feet four and half inches in height "in his boots".
He worked as a market gardener at Albany in 1911 and Katanning in 1916. He moved to Northam in 1917 and worked as a cook in the Shamrock Hotel. In 1918 he worked in the Premier Hotel at Albany. Between 1918 and 1922 he worked alternately at Northam and Albany for several months at a time as an hotel cook (B).
In 1922 he was charged with gambling when police raided Ah Sim’s house at Middleton Road.
