Biographical informationNg Eng Lim (黃應臨) was born in about 1854 in Teo Chiu, China (潮州). He migrated to Western Australia in June 1881.
He was recruited in Singapore to work as a shepherd under contract for three years at £1 10s 0d per month.
On his arrival in Western Australia he was employed by James Clinch, Berkshire Valley, who reported in June 1881, that Ng Eng Lim was 'in a bad state with venereal' and was unable to work.
