Biographical informationLin Ah Yin was employed by Wallace McLeod, Cherrita Station, Roebourne, in 1882.
On 5 April 1882, he was charged with absconding from service and sentenced to one month imprisonment with hard labour. On his release he committed the same offence and was sentenced to a further two months imprisonment with hard labour. He stated that 'he prefers the lock-up to McLeods'.
On 28 July 1892 he was charged with refusing to work and was sentenced to three months imprisonment plus costs for laying an assault charge against McLeod. He was sent to Perth to serve out his sentence. Whilst a prisoner, he threw a stone at a Sergeant and was sentenced to a further one month’s imprisonment with hard labour.
