Biographical informationLee Toong (aka Lee Toom) was born in about 1865 in Canton, China. He migrated to Australia in 1888 and moved to Western Australia in 1897. He was five feet six and a half inches in height. His wife and son remained in China.
He owned a block of land at Guildford Road, Perth, in 1903 when he travelled overseas. He was working then as a market gardener.
In 1911 he was recorded as working on a market garden at Leederville. He worked on Ah Ling's market garden, Guildford Road, Victoria Park, in 1918 then moved to Lee Yee's market garden in Mill Street, Queens Park.
He travelled overseas four times: August 1903 to January 1905; March 1911 to June 1912; August 1915 to December 1917; and February 1921 to January 1924. He travelled to China permanently in January 1928.
