Biographical informationLan A Seng was born in about 1852, location not specified. He migrated to Western Australia in May 1884.

He was recruited in Singapore in 1884 to work under contract to John Pierce Wellard, Turner River, Roebourne, for three years.

On his arrival at Cossack, Lan A Seng assaulted another Chinese and was found to be insane. He was sentenced to 14 days imprisonment with hard labour, however, he refused to work with other prisoners.
