Biographical informationKing Fong was born in about 1873 or 1875 in Canton, China, son of Fong Nan King. He migrated to Western Australia in 1894 and worked as a waiter.
He was working as the chief cook at the Western Australian Club, St Georges Terrace, Perth, in 1916. In the same year he moved to the Weld Club, Barrack Street, Perth. In 1920, he moved to Geraldton and worked at the Freemasons Hotel (B).
He applied for a certificate to return to the colony in 1900. His request for a two-year certificate was not approved but he was issued a certificate for one year and told to apply for an extension. He returned to the colony in August 1901.
He travelled overseas between May 1906 and July 1907 (D).
