Biographical informationHop Lee (1) was born in July 1863 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in June 1883. He was five feet five and a quarter inches in height.
In 1903, he appeared in court for disobeying orders to vacate a condemned premise as directed by the Board of Health. The order related to premises in Havelock Street (Daily News, 20 October 1903, p. 1).
In June 1910, he was treated in Perth Hospital for concussion after being knocked down by a 'sulky' in West Perth (West Australian, 13 June 1910, p. 4.)
He worked as a market gardener in Havelock Street, West Perth and was living in Havelock Street in 1916 (but probably lived and worked there from as early as 1903).
He travelled overseas once: June 1905 to August 1906.
He died in December 1916 at St Omer Private Hospital in Havelock Street, West Perth, and was buried in Karrakatta Cemetery (Chinese Section AA 0075).
