Biographical informationHo Ah Sin (aka J Wassy) was born on the 19th March 1861 in Chimpo, Pekin [Beijing], China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1879. He stated that he arrived in Australia on one of 'Padbury's sailing boats'. He was five feet one and a half inches in height.
Prior to July 1917 he was working on a station 85 miles from Carnarvon and was listed as a "cook, gardener and general farm worker". In June 1917 he travelled by boat to Geraldton and worked for one month in a Chinese Boarding House at Fitzgerald Street, Geraldton [hard to read, might be Ah Lim's?].
He then left Geraldton to word as a cook on Willy Gully Station, Northampton (1917); then Mount Hill Station, Walkaway (1917 to 1919); then for Charles Sing at Geraldton (1919); and then at Dalgaranga Station, Yalgoo (1919); then at Wong King's Boarding House in Geraldton (1920).
