Biographical informationHam Chong was born in January 1873 in Sunming, China. He migrated to Western Australia in July 1892. He was five feet three and a quarter inches in height.

He worked as a laundryman at the Lee Sing Laundry, Forrest Street, Beverley, in 1916 then at the Ginn Bros Laundry, 957 Hay Street, Perth, in 1917.
