Goon James was born in July 1867 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in May 1894.
He worked as a cabinet maker for See Wah & Co. Ltd Furniture Factory, in Railway Parade, West Perth, in 1916.
He moved to Melbourne. Victoria, in June 1918 (B).
