Biographical informationGooey Wong Hee (aka Liu Yu) was born in September 1880 in Canton, China. She migrated to Western Australia in 1900. She was the wife of Gooey Lew John.

Gooey Lew John and Gooey Wong Hee had eight children born in Western Australia: Willie (b. 1903), George (b. 1905), Minnie (b. 1906), Charles (b. 1908), Amy (b. 1911), Arthur (b. 1914), Violet May (b. 1916) and Dorothy Thelma (b. 1919).

The family lived in Albert Street, North Perth, in 1916.
