Biographical informationFong Thom was born in about 1876 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1890. He was five feet nine and half inches in height. He left his wife and two children in Canton.
He was the manager and owned a share in the shop Jock Sign & Co. at Broome valued at £1500 in 1903 (A). In 1916 he was registered as a merchant at Broome. He moved to Roebourne in 1919 and worked for See Sing & Co. (B).
He travelled overseas three times: May 1903 and March 1905; January 1914 to November 1917; January 1923 to November 1933 (A).
