Biographical informationFong May was born in about 1895 in Canton, China. She migrated to Western Australia in about 1896 [exact date not recorded] with her mother, Noy Wong, and two brothers.
Her father was Fong Lang. She had many siblings. The family lived at Geraldton.
She left with the family and returned to China in May 1906. She only returned to Australia in October 1922 (D).
In October 1922, May travelled to Sydney aboard the SS Niagara. A special extension to her Certificate Exempting from the Dictation Test was granted, 'to cover period from the 12/3/1909 to the 17/10/1922'.
