Biographical informationFong King Yick was born in January 1860 [but CEDTs suggest 1963] in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1890. He was around five feet six inches in height.
He worked as a market gardener on the Wing On Woo's market garden, Geraldton between 1890 to 1895, also working in Broome for two years. In 1895 he moved to Perth and worked on the Louey Wah's market garden, Wanneroo. In July 1898, he applied for a CEDT to enable him to visit his parents in Canton (C).
From around 1900 he lived in the Geraldton District until 1917 when he moved to a market garden in Beechboro Road, Bayswater. He worked in Suburban Road, South Perth, in 1918 then, in 1921, returned to Bayswater (B).
