Biographical informationDick On (aka Hu Chee Ching) was born in September 1878 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1899. He was five feet seven inches in height. He left his wife and three children in China.

He worked as a hawker in 1915 at Fremantle and greengrocer at 97 South Terrace, Fremantle, from at least 1917 (B). Dick On was working as a market gardener in 1947 (E).

He travelled overseas four times: September 1915 to May 1917; June 1923 to November 1924; August 1932 to June 1935; and May 1947 to April 1951. He applied for a CEDT in 1929 but did not use it.
