Biographical informationDar Turn was born in June 1888 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1901. He was five feet four and half inches in height. He left his wife and four children in China.
He worked as a shop assistant at Hee Kee & Co, 10 South Terrace, Fremantle, from at least 1906 to 1921. He was recorded in 1914 as a draper and merchant with Hee Kee.
In 1918, manager Dar Turn was charged with 21 counts of defrauding Customs Officers by presenting non-genuine or non-original invoices. He was fined £210 + costs and imprisoned until the fine was paid (West Australian, 12 October 1918, p. 8)
He travelled overseas six times: June 1908 to October 1909; May 1914 to July 1915; December 1919 to February 1921; March 1922 to November 1923; September 1927 to December 1929; and June 1936 to October 1937.
