Biographical informationChew Yam was born in June 1884 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in September 1900. He was five feet six and three quarter inches in height.
He worked as a cabinet maker at the Wah Hing & Co Furniture Factory, 46 Stirling Street, Perth, in 1916. He resided at 76 Melbourne Road, Perth, in 1919 and 35 Charles Street, Maylands, in 1920. In 1921 he moved to Caporn Street, Nedlands.
He applied for a CEDT in 1913 but did not use it.
