Biographical informationCoxon Chen, aka Andrew Chen Ghockson, aka Charlie Coxon, was born in about 1868 in Canton, China. He migrated to Tasmania with his parents in about 1879. He acted as Chinese interpreter at the supreme court of Tasmania. He moved to Western Australia (exact date needs further research) where he also worked as a court interpreter in Perth.
From about 1903 he worked as a market gardener in Northam and York. In 1916 he was working at Burlong, Northam. Later, in York he worked as a market gardener, greengrocer and cafe proprietor. In his later years he lived at Avon Terrace in York.
He had a son Peter Coxon who, in 1943, was living in Melbourne.
