Biographical informationOn 12 February 1883, Ban Ah Teng was charged with absconding from I. L. Bassett's service at Roebourne and was sentenced to one month imprisonment with hard labour. By mutual consent it was decided that Ban Ah Teng's contract would be cancelled if he refunded the cost of his passage, £6, and expenses.
