Biographical informationAh Soot 鐘述 was born in about 1875 in Canton, 南合村,China. He migrated to Australia in 1892 and lived in Melbourne, Victoria before moving to Western Australia in 1898. He was over five feet and seven inches in height. He has a wife (Ah Soo, 楊氏), son and daughter living in China.
He shared the lease of a market garden at Bayswater with Ah Lem before travelling overseas in December 1903. He returned to Western Australia in August 1905 (A). He worked on a market garden at Guildford until 1916 when he moved to a market garden at Belmont (B).
Ah Soot was fined 30 shillings for 'Being Found in a Gaming House' in Perth in August 1918 (B).
He travelled overseas a further four times: June 1909 to December 1910; April 1914 to September 1915; October 1920 to December 1921; and April 1926 to September 1927 (D).
