Biographical informationAh Sim was born in about 1867 in Hong Kong. He migrated to Western Australia in May 1886.
He worked as a marked gardener in Middleton Road, Albany, in 1916 and continued working as a market gardener in Albany until the late 1930s. He was a regular exhibitor of vegetables at the Albany Show, winning many prizes. He always donated his winning vegetables and his cash prizes to the Albany District Hospital. His obituary, published in the Mount Barker and Denmark Record in 1941, recalled that "his ready wit and dry humour won for him many friends".
