Description

Biographical informationAh Ming (3) (aka Ah Ling), full name Yu Ming Noi, was born in about 1888 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in August 1900. He was the son of Yee Wah by his first wife. He was the half brother of Ah Foong (2); Meng Hen (A); Ken Yook, Ming Kwong and Yee Ming Chong. He was five feet and four inches in height.

He was a shopkeeper and tailor in Napier Street, Broome, from at least 1906 to 1937 (E). He worked in and then managed the shop of his father: Yee Wah & Co. in Broome. In about 1936 he took over the store previously run by Jock Sign at 14 Carnarvon Street. He passed on the management of the shop to his son, Yu Kwok Cheung. Ah Ming (3) died in 1964.

He travelled overseas eight times: August 1904 to June 1905; April 1906 to August 1907; February 1911 to June 1912; January 1913 to June 1913; January 1918 to November 1919; January 1923 to December 1925; January 1930 to November 1932; and May 1934 to December 1935 (D).
