Biographical informationAh Lim (3) was born in about 1868. He migrated to Western Australia in 1888.
He lived from 1888 to 1902 in Perth then spent five years in Tasmania. From 1907 to 1914 he lived in Melbourne.
Ah Lim returned to WA in 1914 and worked as a laundryman in Hop Lee's Laundry, Marine Terrace, Geraldton, until July 1920 when he commenced cooking for Sam Suey in Broome. He returned to Geraldton and resumed laundry work in November 1920.
Between 1917 and 1918, Ah Lim was convicted on several charges in Geraldton. In July 1917 he was fined 5 shillings and costs for a 'Breach of the Dog Act'. In October 1917, he was fined £20 for 'Keeping a Gaming House'. This charge was repeated the following month and Ah Lim was fined £25. In 1918, charges of 'Assisting in Keeping a Gaming House' were dismissed.
