Biographical informationAh Kong was born in about 1869 in Heng Sue, China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1897. He was just over five feet and eight inches in height.

He was living in Beaufort Street and working as a market gardener for Mrs A Murphy in Bulwer Street in Perth when he left to travel overseas in January 1901. On the 26 November 1901, Lee Loon, a friend of Ah Kong's, who worked as a gardener for Roe, requested an extension on Ah Kong's behalf. This was granted. Ah Kong returned in November 1901.

Ratebooks place him in Bulwer Street around 1906-1911. He was working as a market gardener in Bulwer Street, Perth, in 1900 and in 1915 (E).
