Biographical informationAh Kem was born in about 1873 in Canton, China. He migrated to Australia in 1893 and then moved to Western Australia in 1896. He was about five feet four and a quarter inches in height.
He worked as a market gardener at Brighton, Melbourne, before moving to Western Australia. He leased land for a market garden in Perth. He travelled overseas between June 1902 and May 1903 (A). He became ill in 1905 and returned to China for medical treatment as he 'didn't trust European doctors'. He stayed in China for seven years.
He returned to Western Australia in April 1912 and resumed gardening (G). In 1916 he worked in Charles Street, Perth. He moved to Northam to work on Buckland Station in July 1919 (B).
