Biographical informationAh Goey (1) was born in July 1879 in Canton, China. He migrated to Melbourne, Victoria in about 1898 and then moved to Western Australia soon after. He had a wife (Wong) and two children (AH Cheong and Ah Hang) in China. His height measurement vary but average around five feet and seven inches.
He leased a property to market garden in Bayswater before he travelled overseas in April 1902 (A). On his return, Ah Goey market gardened at Cannington until January 1909 when he made his second trip overseas (E). He returned in July 1911.
In 1916 he was recorded as working on a market garden in Government Street, Osborne Park (B). Between March 1918 and May 1920 he travelled overseas, after which he worked on Kong Hong Sing's market garden in Lake Street, Perth (D). In 1921 he moved to Victoria Park (B). His final overseas visit was made between May 1926 and January 1928 (D).
