Biographical informationAh Cooey (1) was born in about 1877 in Canton, China. He migrated to Australia in 1891 and to Western Australia in 1896. He was about five feet, three and three quarter inches in height.

Before 1903 Ah Cooey owned his own market garden in Perth (A). After a trip to China between February 1903 and June 1904, he worked on a market garden in Vincent Street, Leederville. His second trip overseas was from July 1909 to December 1910. In 1918 he was market gardening for Ah Ling at Burswood before moving to Hop Soon's market garden at Leederville in 1919 (B).
