Biographical informationAh Chong (8) was born in about 1872 in Canton, China. He migrated to Australia in 1888 and to Western Australia in 1891. He was five feet and six inches in height.
He worked as a cook at Broome until the early 1900s. Then he moved to Cossack and Roebourne by at least 1905. He travelled overseas in February 1911 (E). He returned in July 1912 and was working as a baker in the North West until February 1914 when he again went overseas, returning in August 1915 (E).
In 1917 he was working as a cook on Millstream Station, Tableland, before an overseas visit between May 1917 and December 1919 (B). In 1920 he worked briefly for Wong Bros in Broome as a cook (B).
In 1922 he was residing in Roebourne and stated that he resided in Broome for 7 years and Roebourne and Cossack for 23 years. He was still living in Roebourne in 1925. He made two further visits overseas: January 1923 to June 1924; and March 1926 to May 1927. He left for a final time September 1929.
