Biographical informationAh Yen was born in about 1862 in Canton, China (1902 CEDT says 1867). He migrated to Western Australia in 1897. He was five feet five inches in height.

He leased a market garden at South Perth before travelling overseas in June 1902. He returned to Western Australia in November 1902 (A).
